What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
RFT: Run-flat technologyReinforced sidewalls can permit limited continued driving after a loss of pressure. The permitted speed and distance depend on the manufacturer; a pressure monitoring system is normally required.

Good, not perfect
Comfortable over rough surfaces. My old set used to thump over every bump. The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Not the last word in steering feel.

Switched from a budget brand to the Blizzak LM-005 Driveguard RFT — the difference in braking is obvious. Good winter tyre for the money. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

Trusted Bridgestone quality
Does the job, nothing more. For daily commuting it's perfectly fine. Braking in the wet feels a touch longer than my old premium set, but at this price it's fair.
