What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Good all-rounder
Bought a full set of Falken for the family car. Comfortable ride and no drama in the rain. Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Not the last word in steering feel.

Fair tyre for the money
Ordered online, fitted locally. The tyres themselves have been faultless so far. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

A step up from my old set
Good winter tyre for the money. Rolling noise is low and braking feels predictable. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

Quality you can feel
Early days, but first impressions are very good. Smooth and quiet. Very quiet on tarmac. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.
