What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Okay for everyday driving
Would recommend to anyone after a dependable all-season tyre without overspending. Had them fitted last month. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.

Nice upgrade
They're okay. Comfortable enough, but I expected a bit sharper turn-in. Wet braking is excellent. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

A step up from my old set
My mechanic recommended Kumho and he was right. Quiet, stable, no complaints. Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.
