What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Quiet and comfortable
My mechanic recommended Falken and he was right. Quiet, stable, no complaints.

Fitted and forgotten
The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these.
Federica M.01/04/2026

No complaints so far
Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. My mechanic recommended Falken and he was right. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.

Braking feels secure
Fitted before a long road trip. Comfortable at motorway speeds and felt safe in heavy rain. Does exactly what a winter tyre should. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

Good, not perfect
Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in.

A step up from my old set
Wet braking is excellent. Gave me real confidence on a flooded motorway stretch.
