What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Better than expected
Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

Trusted Falken quality
Good tyre overall. Would have liked a bit more feedback through the steering. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

Decent for the price
Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. Bought on price, staying for the quality. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

Handles standing water better than my previous set. Feel much safer in autumn rain.

Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. Good winter tyre for the money. Holds well in snow and slush.
