What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Good all-rounder
Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in. For this price I didn't expect much, but the WinterCraft WP52 genuinely surprised me. Felt secure on icy morning roads. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

Confidence in corners
Does the job, nothing more. For daily commuting it's perfectly fine. Does exactly what a winter tyre should. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Slightly firmer ride than I expected.

Okay for everyday driving
Driven about 3,000 km on these so far. Wear looks even and grip is consistent. Felt secure on icy morning roads. Took a few hundred km to bed in.

Quiet and comfortable
Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. The WinterCraft WP52 grips well on dry roads. Good balance of comfort and handling.
