What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Solid winter tyre
Wet braking is excellent. Gave me real confidence on a flooded motorway stretch. Fitted them at a mate's garage. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

Fair tyre for the money
Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. The MP93 Nordicca grips well on dry roads. Holds well in snow and slush.

Fitted and forgotten
Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.

Impressed so far
Had these through a full season now. Wear is minimal and performance hasn't dropped. Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres.
