What the tyre markings mean

M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Solid winter tyre
Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres. Solid everyday tyre. Not the last word in steering feel.

Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres. Holds well in snow and slush.

Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. Had them fitted last month. Holds well in snow and slush.
