Description

Directional tread pattern

Numerous V-shaped transversal grooves for rapid evacuation of water on the sides
4 longitudinal grooves (2 main ones + 2 secondary ones), for rapid evacuation of water towards the rear
Highly carved: numerous tread blocks for good driveability in the snow
High sipe density for enhanced grip on snow, ice and wet surfaces

What the tyre markings mean

M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Worth the money
For this price I didn't expect much, but the 601 Winter genuinely surprised me.

Handles standing water better than my previous set. Feel much safer in autumn rain. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

Great on the motorway
Braking in the wet feels a touch longer than my old premium set, but at this price it's fair. They're okay. Slightly firmer ride than I expected.
