Toyo Observe EWS1 - precise steering and driving stability
The Observe EWS1 has been specially adapted to European winter conditions. The newly developed rubber compound and the new construction offer both comfortable driving characteristics and enhanced handling on dry, wet and snowy roads.
Even at high speeds, the tyre offers precise steering and driving stability, and the Proxes R46 are original equipment for the Mazda CX-5
What the tyre markings mean
- XL
- Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
- M+S
- Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.

Fitted and forgotten
Early days, but first impressions are very good. Smooth and quiet. Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Stable and precise in summer heat.

Braking feels secure
Steering response improved straight away after fitting. Very pleased. Braking in the wet feels a touch longer than my old premium set, but at this price it's fair.

Great value for money
Solid everyday tyre. Nothing flashy, but it does everything I ask of it. Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in. No squirm even on hot asphalt.

Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. The Observe EWS1 grips well on dry roads. Fitted them at a mate's garage. Stable and precise in summer heat.
