What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Pleasantly surprised
Steering response improved straight away after fitting. Very pleased. Felt secure on icy morning roads. Slightly firmer ride than I expected.

All-round good pick
Fine for the price. Slightly more road noise than I hoped on coarse asphalt. Second set of Yokohama on this car.

Fine tyre, minor niggles
Would recommend to anyone after a dependable winter tyre without overspending. Comfortable over rough surfaces. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

All-round good pick
Good value, though the sidewall is softer than my previous set. Holds well in snow and slush.
