What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Fair tyre for the money
The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch.

Fine tyre, minor niggles
Second set of Yokohama on this car. The last ones wore well, expecting the same here. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

Trusted Yokohama quality
Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. A sensible buy. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Slightly firmer ride than I expected.

Fair tyre for the money
Ride comfort is the standout. Long journeys feel less tiring now. Fitted before a long road trip. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

Nice upgrade
Ordered online, fitted locally. The tyres themselves have been faultless so far. The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.
