What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Confidence in corners
For this price I didn't expect much, but the Geolandar CV 4S G061 genuinely surprised me.

Fitted and forgotten
Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. The Geolandar CV 4S G061 grips well on dry roads. Bought a full set of Yokohama for the family car. Not the last word in steering feel.

Does what it says
Second set of Yokohama on this car. The last ones wore well, expecting the same here. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.
