What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.
Seal: Self-sealing technologyA sealing layer inside the tyre can close certain small punctures in the tread area. Its limits vary by manufacturer and a damaged tyre should still be inspected.

Good, not perfect
Had these through a full season now. Wear is minimal and performance hasn't dropped. Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in.

A step up from my old set
Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. The CrossContact LX Sport ContiSeal grips well on dry roads. No squirm even on hot asphalt. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.

Driven about 3,000 km on these so far. Wear looks even and grip is consistent. Switched from a budget brand to the CrossContact LX Sport ContiSeal — the difference in braking is obvious. No squirm even on hot asphalt.
