It is the latest development from the experts at Continental. A high performance tyre that combines maximum safety and driving pleasure for sporty, tuning vehicles.

Grip:

The ContiSportContact™ 5 adapts to the road surface, giving improved grip and handling when accelerating and cornering.

Braking:

Featuring Black Chilli Technology, the ContiSportContact™ 5 is reactive, giving shorter braking distances on wet and dry roads.

Mileage:

The unique tyre composition ensures considerably lower rolling resistance – for higher mileage and lower fuel consumption.

The tyre features the SSR system (Self-Supporting Run-Flat Tyre). Should a puncture occur, you can continue to drive up to 80 kilometres, at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, by modifying your driving style. Only possible with a functionable air pressure check system.

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
RFT: Run-flat technologyReinforced sidewalls can permit limited continued driving after a loss of pressure. The permitted speed and distance depend on the manufacturer; a pressure monitoring system is normally required.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Worth the money
Had these through a full season now. Wear is minimal and performance hasn't dropped. For this price I didn't expect much, but the SportContact 5 SSR genuinely surprised me. Stable and precise in summer heat.

For this price I didn't expect much, but the SportContact 5 SSR genuinely surprised me. Fitted them at a mate's garage. Not the last word in steering feel.
