What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Ordered online, fitted locally. The tyres themselves have been faultless so far. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

For this price I didn't expect much, but the Cooper Winter genuinely surprised me. Good balance of comfort and handling. Holds well in snow and slush.

Happy with the purchase
Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. Slightly firmer ride than I expected.

Good grip in the wet
Fitted before a long road trip. Comfortable at motorway speeds and felt safe in heavy rain. Third car I've run on Cooper. Holds well in snow and slush. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.
