What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Pleasantly surprised
Fitted before a long road trip. Comfortable at motorway speeds and felt safe in heavy rain. Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

Good value, though the sidewall is softer than my previous set. Switched from a budget brand to the Euroallseason AS-220 — the difference in braking is obvious. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.

Fine tyre, minor niggles
Steering response improved straight away after fitting. Very pleased. Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres.
