What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Falken delivers again
Handles standing water better than my previous set. Feel much safer in autumn rain. Solid everyday tyre.

All-round good pick
Steering response improved straight away after fitting. Very pleased. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.

Trusted Falken quality
Third car I've run on Falken. Consistent quality every time. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.
