What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Would buy again
Put these on two months ago and the car feels noticeably more planted. The WinterExpert grips well on dry roads. Does the job, nothing more.

Decent for the price
Second set of Uniroyal on this car. The last ones wore well, expecting the same here. Comfortable over rough surfaces. Holds well in snow and slush.

Fine tyre, minor niggles
Not the grippiest in hard cornering, but for normal driving they're more than adequate. Balanced and predictable. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.
