What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.

A step up from my old set
Fine for the price. Slightly more road noise than I hoped on coarse asphalt. Not the grippiest in hard cornering, but for normal driving they're more than adequate.

Quiet and comfortable
Bought on price, staying for the quality. The Multiseason 2 punches above its weight. The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year.

My mechanic recommended Firestone and he was right. Quiet, stable, no complaints. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.
