Designed for a safe and cost-efficient ride, the Winterhawk 4 will keep you in control on winter roads. The tread pattern relies on unique sipes, grooves and angular edges to attain traction on snow, while the innovative compound and tread design help the tyre stop 4% faster on wet roads than its predecessor.

*1 Tests carried out by Bridgestone in March 2020 at Arctic Falls Pitea proving ground (indoor) in Sweden, with VW Golf, on tyre size 225/45 R17. Winterhawk 4 compared to the performance of predecessor Winterhawk 3. Snow braking distance (40 km/h to 5 km/h) in meters: Firestone Winterhawk 4 (15.2), Firestone Winterhawk 3 (15.2). Snow acceleration/traction (10 km/h to 35 km/h) in seconds Firestone Winterhawk 4 (2.72), Firestone Winterhawk 3 (2.92).

*2 Test carried out by TÜV SÜD on the request of Bridgestone in March 2020 at ATP Papenburg proving ground in Germany, with VW Golf, on tyre size 225/45 R17. Winterhawk 4 compared to the performance of predecessor Winterhawk 3. Report No. 713183177. Wet braking distance (80 km/h to 20 km/h) in meters: Firestone Winterhawk 4 (28.3), Firestone Winterhawk 3 (29.4).

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Comfortable over rough surfaces. My old set used to thump over every bump. The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Holds well in snow and slush.

Fitted and forgotten
Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres. Fine for the price. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

Had these through a full season now. Wear is minimal and performance hasn't dropped. A sensible buy. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.
