What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Pleasantly surprised
Handles standing water better than my previous set. Feel much safer in autumn rain. Early days, but first impressions are very good. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.

Great value for money
Wet braking is excellent. Gave me real confidence on a flooded motorway stretch. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year. Took a few hundred km to bed in.
