The tread design of the Winter Defender ensures good grip and braking performance, even on snowy roads.

Its asymmetric pattern makes the Winter Defender a genuine all-rounder. The asymmetric tread pattern is divided into two elements: The inner area efficiently drains the water while the outer area with its large, robust tread blocks ensures high grip in the snow.

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
