The Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season is not an all-weather tyre. This tyre does not bear the Alpine symbol (‘snowflake in a mountain’). All-weather tyres without the Alpine symbol (official designation: “3PMSF” – short for Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake) will be banned from 1 October 2024 when driving on icy or snow-covered roads.

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Nice upgrade
Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Wet braking is excellent. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year.

Fitted and forgotten
Brakes hard and straight, no pulling. Very reassuring. Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.

Good value, though the sidewall is softer than my previous set. Had these through a full season now. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year.
