What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.

Strong performer
Third car I've run on Tristar. Consistent quality every time. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.

No complaints so far
Fine for the price. Slightly more road noise than I hoped on coarse asphalt. Fitted before a long road trip. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

Fine tyre, minor niggles
The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Handles standing water better than my previous set.
