What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Very quiet on tarmac. The WinterExpert made my commute noticeably more relaxed.

All-round good pick
Fitted before a long road trip. Comfortable at motorway speeds and felt safe in heavy rain. Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres. Holds well in snow and slush. Nothing fancy, but fair for the price.

Nice upgrade
Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Third car I've run on Uniroyal. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.
