What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Does what it says
Would recommend to anyone after a dependable winter tyre without overspending. Fitted them at a mate's garage. Holds well in snow and slush.

Great value for money
Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

All-round good pick
Fuel consumption seems slightly better since the switch. Tyres themselves are great. Reliable winter rubber. Holds well in snow and slush. Could be a touch quieter on rough tarmac.
