What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.

Fitted and forgotten
Second set of MICHELIN on this car. The last ones wore well, expecting the same here. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year.

Confidence in corners
The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring. Not the last word in steering feel.

A step up from my old set
Grip in corners is reassuring and the steering feels a bit sharper than before. Good value, though the sidewall is softer than my previous set. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year.
