What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Falken delivers again
Brakes hard and straight, no pulling. Very reassuring. Handles standing water better than my previous set. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.

Good, not perfect
Handles standing water better than my previous set. Feel much safer in autumn rain. A sensible buy. Coped fine with a light snowfall in early spring.

Fitted and forgotten

No complaints so far
Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in. Nice not having to swap tyres twice a year.

Smooth ride
The car feels more stable in crosswinds since fitting these. Good balance of comfort and handling.
