Nokian Tyres Snowproof 1 is a safe and reliable premium winter tire especially developed for Central European passenger car drivers. The tire offers predictable behavior on snow and slush and comes with vastly enhanced wet properties. This trusty performer’s winter safety features

offer peace of mind in sudden snowfalls and slushy lane changes. Nokian Tyres Snowproof 1 offers reliability and balance for daily driving. The Alpine Sense Grip concept is an innovative combination of reliable grip on snow, slush, and wet while the handling remains balanced and easy to control. The tread design effectively removes water and slush from between the tire and the road while the tailored siping ensures superb lateral and longitudinal grip.

The Alpine Grip rubber compound is designed to perform in a wide temperature range. Without compromising any winter properties of the tire, the wet performance elements have been further developed to meet the needs of milder conditions. The multifaceted Snow Claws between the tread blocks and in the shoulder areas provide balanced grip on ice and snow, particularly when braking and accelerating. The Brake Boosters do their part to improve the longitudinal grip. A strong, unifed rib offers excellent stability and steering response dominates the tire’s center region. The heavily siped tread blocks that connect to this sturdy rib improve braking and acceleration grip.

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
EV: Suitable for electric vehiclesThis tyre is optimised for the weight, torque, rolling resistance and noise requirements of electric and hybrid vehicles. The marking does not mean that it can only be used on an EV.

Fair tyre for the money
Handles standing water better than my previous set. Feel much safer in autumn rain. Good value, though the sidewall is softer than my previous set.

Does what it says
Fine for the price. Slightly more road noise than I hoped on coarse asphalt. Very quiet on tarmac. Felt secure on icy morning roads. Slightly firmer ride than I expected.
