Description

The Sumitomo WT 200's horizontal tread grooves with sipes is perfectly designed to pick up snow. Because snow adheres best to snow, this results in enhanced grip on snowy roads. On wet or slushy roads, the liquid can run off to the side via the transverse channels. This reduces the risk of skidding in the wet.

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Fitted and forgotten
Good in town and on the motorway alike. Versatile tyre. Grip when pulling away on wet junctions is much better than my old tyres. No squirm even on hot asphalt.

Happy with the purchase
Balanced and predictable. Exactly how a tyre should feel. For this price I didn't expect much, but the WT200 genuinely surprised me. Stable and precise in summer heat. Took a few hundred km to bed in.
