What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Handles well
Not the grippiest in hard cornering, but for normal driving they're more than adequate. Good in town and on the motorway alike. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama.

Braking feels secure
My mechanic recommended Yokohama and he was right. Quiet, stable, no complaints. Second set of Yokohama on this car. Not the last word in steering feel.

Does what it says
Does the job, nothing more. For daily commuting it's perfectly fine. Braking in the wet feels a touch longer than my old premium set, but at this price it's fair.
