Snow, ice and wet: These are the three dimensions that make a real winter tyre necessary for safe driving during the cold seasons. With the SP Winter Sport 3D, Dunlop has developed a completely new winter pro, which counters these three dimensions with sophisticated technology.

The SP Winter Sport 3D incorporates three types of sipe in its tread design, thus ensuring excellent grip at any time in snowy, icy and wet conditions: The high-amplitude sipe gives enhanced lateral stability and control on snow. The 'pulling' sipe ensures high traction and braking power on snow and ice. The 3D shoulder sipe is self-supporting and the technical highlight of the SP Winter Sport 3D. The sipe opens for high grip levels on snow and ice, while it closes slowly at higher speeds on wet and dry driving surfaces, allowing it to use its self-supporting effect to achieve extremely good driving stability.

What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

They're okay. Comfortable enough, but I expected a bit sharper turn-in. Wet braking is excellent. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Not the last word in steering feel.
