What the tyre markings mean

XL: Reinforced tyre (XL)XL means Extra Load. The tyre is reinforced and can carry a higher load than a standard tyre of the same size. Always follow the vehicle's specified load index and tyre pressure.
M+S: Mud and Snow (M+S)M+S is a manufacturer's indication that the tread is intended to offer improved traction in mud and snow. By itself it is not the same as the tested 3PMSF winter certification.
3PMSF: Three-Peak Mountain SnowflakeThe mountain-and-snowflake symbol identifies a tyre that has passed a standardised severe-snow traction test. It is the recognised performance marking for winter conditions.
Rim protection: Rim protectionA raised rubber profile near the bead helps protect the rim edge from light kerb contact. It cannot prevent every type of wheel damage.

Good value, though the sidewall is softer than my previous set. Steering response improved straight away after fitting. Felt secure on icy morning roads.

A step up from my old set
Brakes hard and straight, no pulling. Very reassuring. Decent grip dry and wet, but they took a few hundred km to feel bedded in. Proper grip on packed snow, no wheelspin drama. Not the last word in steering feel.
